As other comments point out, the award for being a "best" workplace seems to have no basis in the day-to-day environment of the firm. - Attorneys here are prone to gossip about staff members and other attorneys. This was commonly the main topic of conversation at informal social events. - Partners verbally attack associates about work issues in informal group events and in front of other supervising attorneys and peers instead of providing feedback in a professional manner. - Certain partners have been known to pit associates or junior partners against each other by delegating identical projects. Instead of providing constructive or negative feedback to the associate that completed the weaker work product, the partner will gossip about that associate to the associate that completed the stronger work product. - The firm's actual hiring and professional development practices seem to place diverse associates at a disadvantage and stand in contrast to the firm's touting diversity as a "long standing core value." The firm, for example, provided offers to 100% of the white summer associates in its northwest offices in a recent year while offers were made to 50% or less of the diverse (LGBT and ethnically diverse) summer associates that were in the summer program in that same year. This was so even in instances where the summer associate's work product was seen as strong. - The firm is very self-absorbed with its success in the relatively small Seattle market. Yet even in Seattle, Perkins does not attract the best litigation and corporate work, which often goes to satellite offices of larger firms. The firm is not competitive in most of its other markets."

It doesn't matter how hard you work here; everyone gets the same raise regardless of your efforts. Management is disconnected with their staff which shows in their high turnover rate in positions like these. Training and opportunity is based on paralegal association or assignment. Typical office politics and favoritism."

I found that since there are SO many resources to help the attorneys they don't really need a legal assistant so I spent most of my days going to coffee with other legal assistants. I just personally can't fill my day with socializing, I need to have work to do. However, if you want to skate by and not work this is the perfect place for you."

Kitchen Staff (Former Employee) says"First off, how they ran this company was just plain unconstitutional, especially in clear violation of labor laws, which required employees to work a shift in the morning/afternoon and return to work overnights, with less than 10 hours in between. How this even allowed was unbeknownst to me and seems like they got away with it for a long time. If you want to keep your sanity, work-life balance routine, and not get mixed in with a toxic working environment as the employees will talk behind your back if they don't like you. Perkins (Current Employee) says"I wasted 5 years of my life for this company. Not worth it!! The only restaurant open on Thanksgiving and Christmas!! And no time and a half or holiday pay!! The food sits under the heat lamps for 30 minutes before someone will run the food."
